What the checker knows—and what it does not
Borderwise is an independent editorial comparison tool. A company’s published territorial rules may depend on the pickup station, car code, driver eligibility, destination and rental dates. We interpret only the specific official source cited for each policy. We do not substitute aggregator blog posts, forum anecdotes or unverified numbers for rental-company policies.
Our status definitions
- With conditions: A published policy describes an eligible country or allows approval requests. This is not approval for the reader’s booking. Branch, written permission and vehicle limits may still block the trip.
- Prohibited: The provider explicitly forbids the destination or vehicle class in the available cited terms.
- Not confirmed: The provider’s source for this pickup market does not clearly address the requested route, or its statements conflict.
- Not reviewed: A tracked company has no pickup-country policy in our reviewed dataset. This does not imply it operates in that country or permits the trip.
How fees are calculated
A stated fee is not the all-in rental price. We interpret each official rate according to its published calculation method. A flat cross-border fee is charged once per stated fee group. A per-day surcharge is multiplied by rental days and capped only when the official source publishes a cap. A per-country fee is multiplied by the number of selected qualifying countries. Where a company may stack EU and non-EU fee groups, both groups appear. A per-border fee is not multiplied automatically because the physical crossing count depends on the exact itinerary and return journey. If tax, insurance, an approval quote or vehicle code prevents a reliable calculation, we show the source terms without a definitive total.
Verification and limitations
These pages were reviewed against publicly available company terms on 2026-10-30; this is the editorial review date, not a guarantee of the source’s own issuance date or of continuing validity. Some company websites can block automated retrieval; a source link lets the traveler verify directly. Rates may change after our review, and local branches may vary. Only the supplier can authorize a specific crossing. The signed rental agreement prevails over this comparison.
Company and location names are used descriptively, not as an endorsement. Borderwise has no implied affiliation with the rental providers. Official country entry and road-tax requirements must be checked separately.
